Countdown to CoP19
On 30 June 2021, the Republic of Panama offered to host the 19th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP19). On 16 July 2021, the Standing Committee warmly accepted the offer from Panama to host CoP19 in November 2022. The Minister of Environment of Panama, Mr. Milciades Concepción, and the CITES Secretary-General signed the Host Country Agreement on 14 September 2021.
This will be the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES held in Central and South America and the Caribbean since CITES came into force on 1 July 1975, but it will the first held I the region since 2002.
