Control of CITES documents
1. In view of the fact that the CITES Management Authority of Mexico has continued to receive CITES permits and re-export certificates that are not validated by the Customs service or the competent authorities of the country of (re)export, it has decided not to accept any export permit or re-export certificate that has not been duly validated by the Customs service or the competent authorities of the country that issued the document.
2. The CITES Management Authority of Mexico requests Parties not to accept any export permit or re-export certificate that has not been validated by the Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente (PROFEPA), in box no. 14 of Mexican CITES permits and certificates. PROFEPA is the Mexican agency in charge of law enforcement.
3. This information is being sent to the Parties at the request of the CITES Management Authority of Mexico.
